My '05 545 has HUD. The HUD, from time to time, goes almost invisible. If you look closely, you can still see the speedometer display, but it's barely visible. No rhyme or reason to when it occurs. Sometimes it will remedy itself after the engine has been turned off.

Any ideas? Anyone else experience the same problem?

I have the same model year car, and have not had any problems. I would suggest you go to the dealer and have them check it out.

Okay... It's sounds like it may be a bad connection but I'll ask the obvious... are you wearing polarized glasses?

You're not wearing sunglasses, are you? Seriously, certain polarized lenses make HUD hard to see.

(oops, ImolaRedM beat me to it)

Has happened to be some. I believe it is only under very bright sunlight conditions. I think I remember a brightness setting for the HUD. If so, I'm certain I have mine set on brightest. It has never been a distraction.

HUD display brightness adjust automatically with daylight conditions...sure your not driving through a tunnel
when this happens? or maybe clean the light sensor for the HUD...

There is a brightness "offset" adjustment in iDrive -- I keep mine in the middle (default) position with no problems at all...

Mine works great....there was one time during the middle of the day when the HUD did start to fade and get fuzzy.....then I realized the sun was shining directly at the HUD port in the dash......as soon as my direction changed a bit, all better.
