You'd have a better chance of retrofitting Penelope Cruz to the passenger seat.
How much is that option normally?

and the other possible problem is that someone said that there may not be a HUD for right hand drive cars, ...

That was true for some time, but not anymore.

Could I retrofit a right hand HUD for my passenger on my left hand drive car?

(you know, 2 sided HUD!)

You don't need the new windshield, it work fine on your current windshield but the display won't be as bright as the factory installed one. I have add a HUD system to my corvette and it's work fine.
But i don't recommend doing it with BMW because of the electronic and software update involved.

With the vette was easy, just cut the dashboard, place the HUD on place, plug the wire and ready to go.

Nope. The system in the Corvette and the E60 are total differnt. You DO need a new windshield, or you will see the projection twice.

Guys

I have the chance to buy a used HUD and was wondering what process was required to fit it. Is it a major job or is everything there for me and BMW can connect some wires etc?

Cheers Paul

Paul,

Changing the subject slightly but the cheapest HUD I've seen was ?60 a go and I last used it whilst driving toward Quatt at 77mph in 60mph limit, sort of gun shape with a handle and an officer plod attached to it! Keep an eye out!
