Hi everyone! This is my first post here.
So I've obsessed, like I normally do when it comes to making big decisions, over which new car I want to buy to replace my trusty 2001 Ford Taurus. I figure I want something fun to drive, luxurious, roomy, and gets decent gas mileage. Well I end up with the 5 Series as my choice. Then I obsess over 535i vs 550i, finally deciding I'd like to do a mod here and there, save a few bucks, and get a bit better gas mileage, so 535i it is.
THEN I read about all these problems that 335's and 535's are having. Is it really that bad??? I was looking at 2008 or 2009 model years and the reviews from owners are less than impressive. I'd really hate to get a 2008 and all of a sudden be on the hook for repeatedly replacing fuel pumps, injectors, batteries, etc when the warranty is over.
Any insight would be appreciated!

Did a little more reading and found BMW extended the fuel system warranty to 10 years, is that warranty transferable? That would give me a little piece of mind to know I wouldn't have to pay for the new parts/labor. Still a pain to take it in all the time to get it fixed though. Don't suppose the warranty covers any battery problems?

the warranty is attached to the car, not owner....
does not cover any battery problems, you would have to get an extended warranty for that...
when I had my e60 535i, I had to replace my battery around the 2 year mark..no idea why it was so soon, some threads point towards faulty modules not shutting down properly...and high battery drain is not exclusive to the 535i, other e60 models have reported such issues....

The extended fuel system warranty does enough to make me want to go ahead and start seriously looking for a 535. And since I'm so picky, it may take awhile to find the right one. On a related note, I've been trying to find 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for the 535's w/ tunes from dinan, etc. Anyone happen to know?
