My Ride: 2008 535i LCI with sports/premium package, Sports trans with paddle shifters, CF emblems, JB4 Software, Dinan Exhaust, Navigation, M5Tech body kit, Carbon wrap interrior trim and CIC Controller.

Too funny! But you are correct. I am curious what they would charge to replace this pump outside of warranty. I'm guessing around 1000 or so.

Looking in the system it shows the old HPFP installed at 31,760 miles was part no. 13517594943 High-pressure pump and the HPFP that was installed a few days ago is P/n 13517616446. I'm assuming this would be the modified pump.

It isn't out of warranty is the short answer. However, more specifically it's an expensive and major defect they produced in the cars, so they more or less have to do this or I am sure lawsuits and sanctions would pile up and cost more. It's also the responsible thing to do, but I am guessing they are financially motivated.

Yes, of course its not out of warranty. But my question is what it would cost to have one installed where you did have to pay?

Hard to guess in BMW dollars of course but it "looks" fairly easy. Easy to get to it seems - directly under the airbox/charge pipe.
