Thumbs up

Never owned a BMW before but all my previous cars eventually start to rattle as they get older. Anyone noticed this for their e60? What age did your car start to rattle? Thanks in advance.

This is my 6th Bimmer, including a 15 year old e28, and none of them ever rattled.

Had a rattle on my brand new LCI e60. Resolved with some felt material around the clips of my rear parcel shelf...

I take it your coming from a long line of American cars.

I've owned two BMW's, Lexus, Audi, and all of these I've ran over a 100,000 miles on them with no rattles. Had a Caddy and it was a bucket of bolts going down the road with like 75K. My current BMW is sound as can be but only has like 38K in miles.

P.S.: To add to this I have a friend with an Acura TL with about 250K on it and no rattles. Another friend has had a couple Maxima's with 100k and no rattles either. Few friends with old Honda Preludes and Accords and sound as can be.

I've been dealing with an annoyance creaking/rattling from what appears to be the dash/instrument area - but only on rough roads (and there are plenty in Minneapolis). It's driving me crazy.

I just bought this used 04 530i a month ago

No rattle, though I suppose I will get one now as I said I didn't have one!

I had the same problem. It might be your steering wheel buttons. Dealer told me older model e60's have that problem a lot. If your car is under warranty they will replace it for you

Looks like I have this problem too and have been trying to figuer where it came from. I thought it was from some loose parts in the upper steering column close the the steering wheel. I also tried to hold the odometer reset bar (that little bar from the instrument pannel glass and you can push down to reset the trip odometer), which seem to help tiny little bit, but can still hear rattles when going over rough road.

Are there other postings you have come across regarding this problem you can point me to? Anybody BMW service bulletin on this issue?
