Is it me, or does any other 5-series owner have difficulty turning off their radio?

I press the button (supposedly the on-off button) but it all does it mute the radio, it is not actually off, as the radio station displays are still there on the screen.

Is there anyway to turn off the radio? And I mean really turn it off?

Sometimes I like to drive and enjoy the road sounds and not have radio on.

Thx

Is there a difference in the sound you hear when the radio is mute and if it were to be off?

"Mute" is the new "off". It was kinda wierd for all of us, but if you really think about it, there's no difference. It's just something new.

If you do not hear it, it is off, right?

Something i should check t'rrow.....and i don't want to do it now. :-)..... So, if the mute is on (ie. radio is off), does the other audio services (eg. nav, phone etc) stay on or will that be turned off too ??

Mute will stop you from hearing anything and, depending on your software version, will "pause" what you're listening to (if you are listening to a CD, etc.)

Nothing is "turned off" like the old days. The nav, phone, etc. will always remain on. If you don't want to see anything on the screen, then you can turn that off too. Even then, the phone, nav, etc. is "powered up", you just don't see anything...

I'd like to add something...

If you don't like the stations on display while you turned off (muted ) the radio, move the idrive into the climate control area. Then you really turned off the radio and you won't see the stations any longer. You could also turn off the display but it's still lighted...
