So if I understand......you cannot just remove the steering wheel roundel and replace it? Tell me it ain't so ....I wanted to replace mine with a carbon fiber roundel I've been eyeing on Ebay. Has anybody here replaced theirs? Let me know!

O.K., I did this once before with a previous car. Someone cut in front of me and I had to slam on my brakes and I punched the steering wheel bmw roundel, thinking it was the horn...and dented it. The dealer told me it was a $600+ fix because it was attached to the airbag. I thought maybe a dentless repair guy could solve this thing...any ideas?
the best thing to do is to pay the 600+ USD do not take this lightly unless you think you do not need an air bag

Have you tried using a suction cup and pulling it out? Another thing to try is use a pin, make a small hole just in the center of the dent, now bend the pin and stick it into the hole and use the bend in the pin to pull the dent out. The fact that the metal dent means it has a hollow under it in the center.

Why not call BMW NA and politely ask them why the part failed under normal use? Maybe they'll authorize a replacement? Maybe try another dealer?
Who knows, you may not be SOL just yet...

it might also be worth going to a shop that does interior repairs. I had a car repaired once where someone had screwed a phone holder through the dash pad - they repaired it for about $75 and it looked like brand new. They may have something in their bag of tricks to address the roudel problem.
