Default how to remove oil temp sensor coolant

http://i.ebayimg.com/20/!CDPS8GQBmk~$(KGrHqN,!k8Ez+580kqGBNN2oL3W5g~~_1.JP G

I have this and i need to remove the oil temp sensor, but Ive taken off the electrical connector but there are no 'clips'/'arms' for me to grab and pull out. (similar to this pic) is this the same sensor?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BMW-Therm...item5d514994a8

I released the silver clip, then took off the sensor but i cant pull out the sensor, and there's nothing to 'hold down' to pull it out.. (no arms). I have a feeling the arms of cracked/snapped off as there was plastic debris around where it was meant to be, asif it broke into little pieces.... is that even possible?

I bought this sensor

You posted a link to an eBay auction for a coolant thermostat.

If the "big ears" are broken then you'll have to put a pair of pliers on what is left of the levers and push them in while pulling the sensor out. Be prepared to catch coolant if you haven't already drained the system.

use a long needle nose pliers and pull the sensor out.
