i dont know if there is any 520d owner here. not a powerful car but it does give u a pull when u push it. ONLY if u put it into DS mode. [im so jealous about ppl here owning 530 535 or even 545!!!!] . im not sure how it is like to drive a brand new 520 but mine is 2nd hand so im not sure if theres any power loss! because i need to put it into DS mode to drive everywhere, and normal D mode is just not driveable at all. so if there is any 520i/d owner, please confirm me with that.

and if there is power loss, whats the possible way to regain them?

Thanks,
Barton

The 520d has 160 HP and weighs 3500lbs. It's just not a very fast car....

How many miles on the car?

I've got an E61 520D, while it is not exactly a fast car, it still manages to drive quite well.
Certainly overtaking is fast enough.
I drive a manual however. I don't know if a reset of the auto gearbox could solve your problems?
Mine has around 95000 km now.

If you are saying that in DS mode it's ok - then it's an automatic transmission that makes it feel slow. Try to do a 25 sec transmission reset, it will bring your transmission to default settings

I dont think that we get the diesel in the US but it sounds like it is a very durable/economical car.
I dont think I would try to make a boy racer out of it. It is probably very qiuet/comfortable.
Enjoy it the way it is and enjoy the great fuel mileage.

No, you could try removing the floor mats and the lighter. That might give you an extra 0.00000000001 hp. Worth a try.
