I use 6th all the time. Don't have particular mph on hand, but I usually shift from 4th to 6th. After awhile, it just becomes habit.

I would say every other time I'm on the freeway....which is when traffic allows. If I could convince more American drivers to use the left hand lane for passing, perhaps I'd get a chance to use it more...

I drive about 80 to 100 miles per day (already have more than 8000 miles already and I picked it up on 12/9 with 800 miles from ED). I am in 6th from 60 miles upward, but find myself going form 6 to 4 quite often when I need the speed. I use 6th for the mileage, but there is really not enough pickup to gun it in the 3.0.

This is my second 5er with a 6-speed and I have a 911 with a 6-speed, and with them all, I've always thought that I really don't know how to drive a 6-speed!!

Generally, on the freeway, I skip from accelerating in 4th gear to cruising in 6th gear. I only go to 5th if I'm playing around and wanting to accelerate between 80 and 100 - and yes, I know that that is considered silly and dangerous by some of you.

Anyway, I'd like to know how others use 5th gear - at least with a 545??

I always use 6th on the highway. Much better gas mileage, quieter, easier on the engine. Highway cruising is what 6th gear is there for!

I rarely use 5th as going from 4th-5th then finally 6th gets tiresome after awhile. I feel 6th has enough kick on the highway and even on the street, hence the 4th to 6th shift.

If I really wanted to push it more, I'd downshift to 3rd or 4th or just stay in those gears for a longer amount of time.
