Back in the 70's when Bimmers were much rarer, 1600/2002 drivers would flash their high beam lights when approaching each other on the road. Although I notice just about every E60 I come across, I can't imagine today's drivers acknowledging one another. Except for maybe at a meet and greet, we're just not as giddy as in the old days.

Here we have many

1. clings- NEVER saw yet any!!! except mine
2. wheels - jealousy
3. suspension- why I am always closer to the ground as others, incl. M pack, note that here at least 70-80% of E60 is with M pack, not the spoiler kit but the whole pack.
4.driver - one day there was a nice silver grey CD plate E60 with a young long blond hair lady, that was a nice combo
5. exhausts

ps. no (other) HAMANN e60 in Benelux -yet but this will change soon

In HK everyone ignores everyboby
It is not a frendly place to drive in HK, no 1 gives way, basicly you got to push your way around unlike UK every 1 give way, apart from London is a bit like HK.

everyone looks at my car because of the mods.
I say about 2% of E60 is mod in HK

1 more place not to drive is China, never drive there, it like a war upthere

I answered "couldn't care less," but that's only correct in the senses mentioned. I usually look to see if I can get next to one at a safe spot for a little zoom zoom.

Every chance I get! I guess what kicked it off was the ordering & delivery period, where I was checking out EVERY single E60 I saw to get a feel for specs etc. It's amazing how much of the spec you can check out in a few seconds! Is there a entry for this in the Guiness Book of World Records?!

I think others have listed everything you can look at inside and out.
As a final note, I have to say that I still always enjoy checking out an E60, getting closer and then seeing those M5 quad-exhausts

cheers

Indeed, there was a whole caste system in 50s and 60s, I'm told, of sports cars flashing at each other. (Jags didn't acknowledge MGs etc, although I always returned flashes from my XK-E)); same with motorcycles until the 90s when Harley HOG types decided to stop waving at what they thought were "lesser" marques. Little do they know: We are laughing at their pretentious nature, and feel a bit sorry for their insecurity.

But, your're right that comraderie is long gone; I'll check the wheels and the badge numbering, but know full well that those (especially M markings) mean nothing nowadays.

If you are serious, you check the brake disc diameters.

Cheers,
Ray Hull

Haha I caught a 525 or 530 in a parking lot with a full M-Tech kit with a 550 badge and #172 wheels... what tipped it off was the small exhaust and then i checked the brakes and then checked the steering wheel... no Rutherium trim!

Such an embarassment... why was that idiot soooo shameful of his car that he needed to pose and pretend to be a 550 when it clearly wasnt...

Never the less i left him a note saying "Nice 525 or 530... small exhaust, small brakes, no Rutherium trim on steering wheel."
