Question How much should a complete transmission fluid change charge?

How much should a complete transmission fluid change charge?

My 535i is having more minor slams when shifting. It's at 90k miles. I am considering transmission fluid change. I want to do it myself, but I don't have flushing equipments, neither can I jack the car up.

If I go to an auto shop, how much would be reasonable for them to do a complete fluid change? (with new filter and gasket)

Thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving!

In the Phila/ S Jersey area one indy told me $650, another $1050, and the first guy a whopping $1600. The funny thing is i spoke 2 dealers and they wont do it, they would just top off and do a reset.

I just paid 750 for a new pan and to flush the fluid one time. I thought it was just a quirk but a lot of the jerkiness went away afterwards. They also replaced the leaking sleeve.

Just talked to a mechanic today, he doesn't recommend me to open the pan. He said the fluid is meant to be good "forever", opening the pan when not necessary may cause more problems....

I wonder if I should really consider replacing the gasket, there is a leak anyway, very tiny leak.

Why so much to drop the pan and change the filter? I've done it on other vehicles, and it's not very tough to do. You definitely need to replace the gasket, and flush the TC while you're doing it, but I don't understand how the stealership could get a rate that high for something that shouldn't take more than 1 hour of labor on a lift... and maybe 1.5 - 2 hours for a person using jackstands. I know there are some underbody panels to contend with, but surely someone has done it themselves?
