Well another big difference is the staggered wheels if you get the V8. The suspension is tuned slightly different. The sport has a stiffer feeling out the box and ars only kicks in at high corning loads. I could be wrong Maybe its the runflats and the lower profile tires? Is also possible there are bigger brakes with the sport too? Their massive babies.

Btw. Before the lci. The sport pack was the best option for the money. Bar none.

Yes the staggered wheels do help with the traction, acceleration and general "giddyup" responsiveness no doubt ... but the planted feeling you get (even during slow speeds) going over bumps and solid road feedback has much to do with the sport suspension components in conjuction with ARS. You would get this feeling regardless of the wheel and tire setup (of course given those tires are somewhat decent an not something that was recommended and installed by an off-duty teen at your local Sears autoshop).

FYI .. the 535i (regular sport package) also comes with an OEM staggered runflat setup (8.0" front and 9.0" rears). For some reason though the 2010 535i M-sport comes with 18x8" all around .. I'll never understand why. The 550i though comes with 19x8" fronts and 19x9.5" rears NON-RUNFLATS .. the way bmw and god intended.

Tough to see in the pic if your car has chrome or shadowline (black) window surrounds and trim - if it's chrome, chances are your car was non-sport, if it's shadowline you may well have sport (which, depending on year, means you should have sport springs, active roll stabilization, some other cosmetic niceties and possibly active steering if your car is 06 or older.)

I see a lot of V8 cars mostly non sport and the 6 cylinder cars are mostly non sport as well.

My car has both SP and LP so I have the comfort seats. I have gotten a little confused by some of the posts here. My car is an '07 so what exactly constitutes the SP? I know the 7 spoke wheels, steering wheel and lowering/stiffer springs but what else, or is there anything else? I haven't seen anything about ARS for my production year.

If your car has the US sport package, then you do indeed have ARS (dynamic drive for our non-US members). It's been part of the US sport package for the entire E60 US production run. For the first two years, active steering was also part of the bundle but it was taken out for the 2007 model years and onwards.

+1

When I'm in Atlanta (especially on the northside) I've noticed more V8's (mostly 545i's). But that's no surprise since that's where most of the money is.

In my neck of the woods it's almost all 525's and 530's non-sport. I've only seen one 535i and it had next to NO options. Its kinda funny since its the same color as mine - I've parked right next to it once and the differences between the two are glaring. I've only seen one 550i where I live and only one "M" when I took my car in for service.

I know that the dealer here sells mostly non-sport all wheel drive like it's a religion. Sports are few and far between.

As the little boy said in "The sixth sense:" I see non-sport E60s.

Seriously, seems that in this corner of the country I see mostly X-drive E60s and the few RWDs seem to be mostly non-sport. We have our own version of the Grand Canyon on our roads and anything over 17" would pretty much guarantee at least one cracked or bent rim a year.
