@ 96k and in the process of changing it out. I bought a Pierburg pump. Just looking to see if I can find a good indy to come to my shop and do the work.

Pretty sure mine died around 85-90k. I was coming down from a trip in Austin and it started making horrible noises and the car started acting up.

I received the audio sound then an amber notice in the cluster and idrive screen saying car was overheating and followed imediately by a red warning saying overheated and to pull over. I had the car stopped and shut down within 30 seconds or so. If this happens its very important not to drive any further than you have to so that you can get in a safe position. I have no idea how far this distance could be until additional damage starts to occur, but my guess, it wouldn't be too far, don't try to make it to a garage or your house, just safely out of pending traffic. There is a test procedure to actuate the electric pump for those who have one and this will tell you if the pump is bad or possibly something else.

I figured it was the pump but didn't know for sure until I tested it.

Cool, I have the same year, make and model. Did you buy yours new and what is your driving habit like?

I change my coolant every two years and hope to hit such milestone. I still have the original pump at almost 80,000 miles.

I bought mine in 2008. It had 19K miles on it and was a lease return. It was dealer maintained until right at 100K when I wised up and went with an indy shop.

It is a daily driver, though my commute varies from 40-90 miles roundtrip daily. I live in Texas - so it is obviously hot. I only push the car hard on occasion.

If the coolant has anything to do with it, I change mine as recommended by the shop. I have replaced the radiator and the hoses. The latter was done right at 100K, the former at 120K.

I am sure it is merely a matter of time, but so far so good - I will hit 139K at some point on the drive home today.

Good luck with yours, I have really enjoyed the car, and now that is paid for, it is even better.
