My Ride: 528xi loaded with 289k miles
Model Year: 2008
Engine: I6
I'm looking at 528i/xi's. Just shopping around on cars.com and Craigslist without negotiating, I see plenty of 528s with 100k-120k miles on the for around $13,000. I also see several 70k-80k miles cars for 15k-16k.
I also see that I can find a few 2010 models for around 15k, which I would much prefer due to the CIC. I would also prefer a 2009 over a 2008 due to the idrive controller. I'm much more comfortable paying around 12k for a car that I know is going to keep depreciating, but could stretch it pending my following questions.
My question is: is 120k miles way too many for a 528? I'm not so concerned about mechanical reliability as I've already researched major issues with the n52 and e60 in general, none of which really scare me.
I am much more concerned with interior and ride quality. Is a 120k mile car going to squeak and rattle significantly more than an 80k mile car? Does the e60 interior hold up well? I have fast, loud and uncomfortable toys already, so I want a nice daily driver.
On a side note, I won't buy a car that doesn't have both navigation and cold weather package. I'd love comfort access but that isn't a requirement.
Any input on high mileage e60s would be much appreciated! Thanks!
