Hey... Just trying to get an idea of what other Tractor owners get on there cars..

Model:
Miles:
AVG MPG:
AVG Speed:

Thanks

Only had the cars under 6 months and im not getting great combined milage and compained to BMW who checked everything HMMMM and also there Tester took it overnight and got AVG speed of 35mph and 33.5 mpg which I still think is low for a 2005 525D M sport with only 25,000 miles on the clock.

With a full Tank it came up with 450 miles for ?70 Diesel AVG speed is 28MPH and 29MPG

In town. A roads with constant start stops it gets about 23MPG they say the book figure is 26.6 even though book specs are 30.6

On motorway crussing at 70mph I have got 38MPG on a 120 mile journey even though book says 53.3

Now is it me or are these figures way off ??

Thanks

My 525d gives me about 8.5 km/liter with an avg speed of 25-30km/hr ... This is with the AC switched on in bad traffic conditions.
Whereas on the highways it gives me 11.5-12.5 km/liter

Sorry i am too lazy to work out the conversations.

I havent had mine very long but on my shortish journeys to work(7 miles) the DIS is showing that im averaging 27mpg and im a fairly heavy footed driver. On a recent 200 mile trip with 150 odd miles of that @90-100mph and the rest in much slower traffic the DIS showed 36.3(actual was 39mpg). What i have found though is that the cars display does under read by quite a bit and the fuel figures are different if i reset everything and then fill up working out the mileage with fuel figure actually used from the pump. My car also doesnt even have 5k miles on it yet so I expect it will get a bit better with some more life on the engine.

I'm getting 32.1 mpg from my 2004 525d E61, with an average speed of around 29Mph.

Less than what official figures say by a long way, but journeys involve a number of short school runs.

Not shy with accelerator or brake, so overall quite happy at figures.

530d, 125000 miles on clock. 25 mile each way commute on twisty A roads is bulk of distance. My displays show average around 33mph and 42-44mpg. Calculated is averaging 39mpg over last 15000 miles. Your figures do seem bad

Very little stop/start traffic for me though

Damn... Just as I thought poor figures

Any advice to what I can do next ? as BMW think 33.6 is great figure for the car doing 35 mph which is what they did.

Apprently they can find a fault in the car with the daig tool

Hi,

Your findings seem about right to me, I too have had my 06 E60 MSport 525D with 30k (now) on the clock since November 07. I too was horrified after coming from a 04 E46 Msport 320D coupe with 40K on the clock.

I live in York but work up in Glasgow - 230 mile trip avarage speed around 65 - 70 MPH mark resulting in 37 -40 MPG. to make it worst alot of my travelling is done at night 0300 when the roads are very quiet so you can maintain a very steady speed with no on off the throttle. And if anybody knows the road from York to Glasgow A1 - A66 - M6 - M74 it's nearly all very straight ( a few up hill sections) only 50 miles on the A66 with is twisty.

The E46 used to do the same trip 45 - 48 MPG @ 70 - 78 MPH.

BMW stealers did not want to know, buying experiance of the 5 has not been a happy one

Clinty

That does sound a little on the low side. My 2006 530d returns, on average 37mpg. This is based on a year's use so far covering my daily commute (30% city and 70% Dutch motorway stop-n-go action), plus a couple of long motorway hikes. My normal day-to-day driving gives me a 35mpg return with an average speed of about 35mph, and I am not shy at all with the accelerator or brakes.

One question for you, though: the numbers you have quoted, are they straight from the on-board computer? I have found that I-Drive on my car has been, on average, about a 2.6% error. I track actual mileage and economy in a spreadsheet based on brim-to-brim fillups. Screenshot attached, and I'll be happy to share my template with you.

Mine has the latest engine and over the last 13,000 miles has averaged 39.7mpg. This is with mixed driving and is some way shy of the claimed combined average of 43.5mpg.

With stop-start traffic it soon plummets...
