been told by SA that i need new tires for the rear for my 08 550i, what are the best replacement tires in your opinion. I got about 10k miles out of the original tires, does this sound about right? The current tire depth for the rear is at the wear indicator. And no, I was not out doing donuts in the parking lot.

Sounds very low as mine were changed around 21K.

Well when I purchased my car the dealer replaced the rear tires for CPO certification. The car had 10k miles on it and I was kinda skeptical why they would need to replaced already but wasn't necessarily complaining. I think I read a few posts in these forums about a lot of recommended negative camber from BMW to enhance handling at the expense of tire wear.

https://5series.net/forums/topic/106...ear-tyre-wear/

Sure does kinda suck though and I hope I get more than 10k-12k out of my tires.

Guys, let's not pull any amateur crap like this, please. All RWD Bimmers eat up rear tires. If you got 200 miles out of a set, MAYBE that's a cause for concern. Otherwise, this is like complaining you got a V12 Ferrari and it eats too much gas, compared to your Prius!

avoid runflats as they wear out fast.

for the longest lasting, usually you got to go with an all-season tire, not a summer tire/sport tire that uses softer rubber.

For aggressive or spirited driving yes. I got 17k on the first set which included the PO's usage. I have almost 28k on the second set but they are getting thin (I also rotated them with each oil change). No idea on the best tire to get - there have been LOTS of posts about this.

would you replaced just the rear tires with a different brand? The fronts have probably another year of life on them.

I got around 22K miles from the rear tires using Bridgestone RE 960 A/S Pole Position. Legit tires.
