Just wondering if anyone knows the number of 550i's that were produced in 2008 or any of the other years? In Australia I can only find 2 that are for sale.. Are they really rare?

 

Haven't seen figures specific to the 550i model in either US or Australia.

In 2011 BMW sales for all models in Australia was 18,000 units.

US sales in 2011 for all models was 247,000 units.

 

I suspect that as a percentage of the total not many were 550is given the close to $120k AUD cost (if you include VAT).

 

Thanks for the reply guys.. Yeah there's only a handful in the whole of Australia. The previous owner left the original receipt of purchase in the car and he apparently paid $205k including dealer delivery and on road costs.
