planning on about 2 years, then probably repalcing with a 550 or, if they available in the US at that point, the twin turbo diesels. Potentially considering the M, but to be honest I think I'd personally get as much out of the 550 or the biggest/baddest diesel available at that time so that's the most likely plan.

Merv,

We purchased ours so we plan on keeping at least 7-9 years. Last car was a 98 Pontiac GTP and we kept it 6 years. It had only 75K Miles on it when we sold it to my Dad. The E60 Replaced it.

In my sig, you see I am going to order a 550i, which will replace a car I have had for 10 years with only 60K on the clock. I would imagine I will keep the 550i for 10 years.

But I am not the normal "car owner".

Regards,

Michael

I plan to keep my 2006 530i long term. Likely 8 - 10 years unless there is a compelling reason to make a change. I

5 yrs +, depending on the service record once the warranty expires. If record is OK, I'll buy the extended warranty and keep the car. If I start having problems, I'll likely ditch it. I really hope to keep a long time, but given all the electronics/software involved, long-term ownership could prove to be an expensive hobby!

Honestly, until the wheels fall off. I'm frugal!

I keep it until warranty expired and jump on either 650i or 550i. We'll see how I'll do financially.

I was planning on keeping mine for 5-7 years. But after the major engine work that is being done to the car, I seriously doubt I will keep it beyond warranty.

This service call has totally deflated my enthusiasm of owning this car.

Maybe that will all change when I get her back.
