My Ride: I have a 2004 E60. It was registered in January 2004. It's a Black Sapphire 530i SE with a few options:
- Auto-dim interior + folding exterior mirrors
- Automatic gearbox
- Bi-Xenon headlights
- Bluetooth
- Leather interior (Black-Dakota)
- Navigation system - business
- Service inclusive
- Sport steering wheel
- Star spoke 124 8Jx18"/9Jx18" + run flats
- Top tint windscreen
- BMW 6-CD autochanger
- Supagard paint treatment
- BMW carpet mats
I'm off on holiday for two weeks from tomorrow and was wondering if the E60 needs any special procedures before I go or after I come back.
My previous car, a Porsche Boxster, would 'switch itself off' after 5 days. Thus, it could not be unlocked using the remote control. You had to use the key and then had to put the same key into the ignition within 10 seconds to prevent the alarm from going off.
Does the E60 do anything similar?

Two weeks should not be a problem, but there are a lot of systems running that will eventually drains the battery. The battery is hugh however.

Just left mine for a month, started first time on my return.
I have in the past though, disconnected the battery and on re-connection had no problems at all.
