How long after the 550 arrives will BMW "update" ?

No body changes for MY2006 .. just the new engine like the new 525/530 got in March production. No big interior changes either other than those small metal inserts by the vents or something (or was that a MY2005 change?).
The actual "facelift" will be for MY2008 as goyk said .. 2 years after the 7 series since the 5 is 2 years younger. There you will see the front/rear bumpers change and a small redesign of front/rear lights just like the new 750 as compared to the 745.

Cool! so I wont have a expired car till end of 2007!
I'll just buy a 330 badge when the new V8 comes out.
