Thumbs up

I couldn't find any info about the size of the nav screen, not even from BMW's official web site. The car I test drove has a very small one but I have seen many with wide screens.

small: http://www.e60.net/information/options/int...akota/titanium/

large: http://www.e60.net/information/options/int...ta/dark_poplar/

So what is the exact dimension of the nav screen? Thanks!

Interesting that you brought this topic up ... I have a '05 545 with Nav which I took into the dealer to get something installed today (phone cradle for my v551) and I got a '04 545 loaner ... its screen is really small compared to the '05 ... and the steering wheel buttons weren't as nice ...

In the US, I believe there is no such distinction. What screen does the US get? Is it a function of whether or not you get nav?

The funny thing is there is not a single word about the navigation/screen in the 2006 5 series brochure. My friend drives an Acura TL. It has an amazing nav screen. The screen on the car I test drove is miserable compared with TL's.

Is there an online version of the 2006 5-series brochure available. I'm still working out the details of my ED 550 with my dealer; and I'd like to be able to confirm (with my own eyes) some of the alleged enhancements w.r.t. equipment options/availability....

Has nothing to do w/ the year (not yet anyway), only if you have Nav or not in the US, Nav Pro, or Nav Business in Europe. Nav Business has the 16x9 screen, Nav Pro has the 2:35:1 screen (8.8 inches diagonal I think). Everyone w/ Nav in the US gets the proversion, everyone w/o get's the business nav screen.

I don't think there are 2 nav options either in the US. From my original links, it seems the one with the larger screen has the nav DVD slot but the smaller one doesn't. So maybe you are right it depends on whether you get the nav or not. But somehow I remember there is a "navigation" option even on the smaller screen. Very confused.

Would someone driving '06 5ers please provide some info.? with or without the nav.
