Hey guys! Anyone have any advice on how to access the blower motor on our cars. Mine is squealing and the dealer quoted $780 to replace. Said the dash has to come apart. I am pretty handy and wouldn't have a problem devoting a Saturday afternoon to taking this thing apart so I'm just looking to see if anyone has any tips or tricks that may make this a little easier. Thanks!
Derek

Crckrjck: well after reviewing that document I have decided that I don't have the 4 days available that it looks like it would take me to do that repair. Wow is that a lot of steps! Indy shop here I come!

It looks like they basically just removed the center console + the radio/climate controls and a few more things

I bet it would take about 3 hours for removal and 2 hours for replacement. The dash is very easy. The part cost is about $100 so the rest of the $780 quote is labor. The fan in my car has started squeaking as well and I plan on doing the repair myself when the noise gets unbearable.

It's actually not that bad a job. It's not dirty and you can stop half way through because it's all inside the car. Once you have the hang of popping the trim off you can do it fairly quickly.

I did it a few times, it is not as bad as it looks. The first time it took me about 4 hrs complete. Since then I have done it in about two hours. The hardest part in my opinion is getting the driver side foot vent back in. Just make sure to follow the steps as the PDF suggested go in order.
Also, if you have a LCI E60 the part around the ashtray will be a little different.

Did this job myself too. Pig of a job but shouldn't take any more then 7/8 hours tops if you follow the PDF. Kind of a scary moment when you see the state of the car after everything has been taken out!
