@Luigi: It's not THAT bad you know
@TheRacerBoss: Partially true, I now also drive a C215 CL500 (gave the E60 to my dad so to speak) and on an old E36 coupe, folding rear seats were standard, on the CL you can't get them even as an option.
It's wierd that the folding "option" costs 600 euros more, but the release mechanism is in the same place (that's why you cand fold them, even if you don't have the option), there's just no release levers...

if you go into the trunk, lie on your back and look at the rear deck (where the rear window meets the trunk) you will see two holes. if you insert a screw driver into the hole and push the lever to the left, you will release the locking mechanism on the rear seats. perform this on both holes/latches and the rear seat will be able for move forward.

if you go into the back seat once the two latches are unhitched you will be able to lift the rear seat up and out of the back seating area of the car as one whole piece.

its just as easy to put it all back in. i did this during my car audio install as i did a full retro-fit to the ski pkg split folding rear seat in order to have a free-air cabin for my sub to operate in.

attached is a pic mid-way during my removal process....it looks scary but it was actually quite simple!

+100...That's how I did mine. Lean the front passenger seat all the way back. I had the shop paint but not install them. I transported them that way and did a self install.
