Assuming you are referring to the Sport Automatic transmission? I don't recall seeing a time listed but its significantly faster than any other automatic I've driven. With paddles, I've never experienced any noticeable delay when shifting and the shifts are fast and crisp, even dropping 2 gears at once with a small blip.

I dont know how one would measure it, I suppose a really quick thumb on a stopwatch...
so there are no official figures out? My best guess would be around 200 ms..

Maybe this will help

BMW M3 E36 with SMG I: 220 ms

BMW M3 E46 with SMG II: 80 ms

Volkswagen Golf GTI (Direct Shift): 8 ms ( one of those dual clutch thingmy jiggys I think )

At least puts a couple of benchmarks in the open

The wife got one of those last month - Golf 6 DSG and the shifts are phenomenal. If you're accelerating lightly you can hardly notice the shifts either (all 6 of them from the 7 speed box). The fact that it's substantially quieter than a Golf 5 helps too. Can't wait for the 1000km run-in period to be over so we can let rip of the 160bhp (from the 1.4TSi engine).

Dont mean to be rude, but I doubt the GTI can do that....
F1 shifts at 30-50 ms...
But I think that 200 sounds right, the E36 M3 was how many years old? I think that tech has found its way to us...

It's a well-published number, that 8ms. If F1 isn't using a dual clutch (and for weight I doubt they are) then there's no reason why a road car can't outperform it in shifting.

F1 also has no traction control, our E60s beat it there ;-)

I can say that it shifts faster than my 2004 SMG did. It is almost instantaneous.
