My Ride: 2004 BMW 545i 6-Speed (Black and Tan)

I was reading somewhere that the new E60 M5 could top 200 MPH while it too will be limited in the US to 155 MPH.
How fast would a 545i be without its governor?
Anybody seen any info from other markets outside the US
Many thanks

The only person I know who's put the governor to use is JXTC who ran his 545 at 155MPH for a few miles. I'm not sure how much more he felt the car had in it but he did mention it felt a tad light in the front-end. (Rock solid at 135MPH) I would imagine that it has a few more MPH's, especially on a down hill run. The better question is where was the RPM guage at 155? Maybe we can extrapolate out the additional MPH off the RPM number???

I did 156mph (That's what my HUD was showing) the RMP was at 5100 on 6 gear.
I say I could have gone up to 175 without a problem.
It's weird, when you get to the limited speed (155) the gas pedal seems not to do anything anymore, but just before that it's moving. I got passed numerous times by other BMW-330cdi, MB-e500 cdi, VW cdi - the little guy, i think it's the GTI here in the USA.
The car felt solid all the way up.

Now I'm wondering if it was me that was a little light in the front end and not the car
I guess I'm the only one that felt lightness or that floating feeling around 150/155, Hmmmm do I dare ask my SA?
Can anyone fill me in on the "Govenor". I thought it was an electronic device or program not a physical part (like the one on my go-cart as a kid) that limits speed.
BTW, I'm not interested in changing the limit, too tempting

Yep...
271 Km/h (I almost shit my pants)
This was on a straight four lane highway. 280 Km/h should be possible, it felt like it's possible to speed up more...
I don't know if the gas is helping a little bit, since I only use the Shell V-Power with 100 octane... I don't think so, but who knows... It's good for the engine anyways.
