not to digress, but the "M30" hasn't been produced since 1993, and is perhaps the most legendary of all BMW inline 6 powerplants ever made. It powered multiple versions of the old 535i, 735i, 635i, 533, 733, 633, etc., and was referred to affectionately as the "big 6" (with the smaller 3-liter and smaller-block powerplants being called "little 6's". It had a cast iron block, a relatively low compression ratio, and would pretty much run forever. Before the V-8s and V-12s was the range-topping engine choice.

Among other positive attributes it most definitely did not suffer from HPFP issues....

In fact, my request may have sounded easy/stupid ... on paper, since the change seems to have happened in 06 (maybe in the US?). In car magazines, for Europe I read that 2007 and later models are the facelifted ones. Also I am in Kuwait and it looks like the 08 models in Kuwait are the newer cars!!! So you see...
Anyway, the best way to spot it, I believe, is that the facelifted models do NOT have 3 gaps in the front bumber but a single wide one with a strip in the middle!
Thanks also for this: I thought the facelifted cars still had a 2.5 litre (but made more efficient) engine - but you tell me that it changed to 3.0 litre. Cool!
Sorry for this last one: what is 'LCI'?
LifeCycle Improvement I think......

LCI = Life Cycle Impulse
It refers to the 'Face lift' the e60 received. Different head lights and tail lights being the two most noticeable changes.
