I know its the steering feel but how would I know if its really there? The salesman told me its there... but I don't know cause I don't want to be cheated of fooled before buying a used e60 525..

Kind of wired question actually...

well besides the obvious stuff like asking to see the window sticker, etc....

if it has AS, then you cannot turn the steering wheel a full 360 degrees to either side from dead center

All pretty hidden AFAIK - it's a very compact unit and it's not obvious from looking, i've tried! Best way is to check lock-to-lock...

So what you are saying is that lock to lock cannot be more than 360 degrees at non motion.. right?

Some articles I've read say 1.5 turns. Others say two.

Maybe I should do that... Is the VIN located on the windscreen?

Ok. 'Normal' steering has no variable gearing so the steering wheel has a lock-to-lock of about 3 turns. With 'Active' steering the physical lock-to-lock is under 1 turn regardless of speed. At low speeds the additional effort is provided by the system to turn the wheels (about 10:1) and at higher speeds the extra effort is not needed (about 20:1) - continuously variable in-between.

So if you do a slow test drive and see how much you can turn the wheel (Stationary too but it's not a good idea) You can turn without moving the position of your hands on the wheel, i.e. not push-pull stuff
