How careful should I be?

I had a set of 166's put on recently with very low profile tires. The tires were reccomended by the dealer and are inline with BMW specs.

I'm concerned with bending a wheel over large bumps. How big a concern is this? I know everything is relative but I find myself avoiding every little bump in the road.

Anyone ever bend a 166?

Sure, everything is possible. I would avoid large bumps and definitely potholes, since its easy to damage not only rims and tires, but suspension too when you have low profile tires on a big diameter rims.

I have not had a problem with my 101's/PS's, and I have hit some mild bumps pretty hard. Also, I run lowish pressures--32 rear and 34 front. But, note that I have never hit a monster pothole or whatever hard. I would be concered if I did. I am trying to be very careful not to hit big ones.

Drive the car like you stole it.

Seriously, I haven't had any sort of problems with my 166s besides the occassional curb rashes these days. Haven't bent my wheels yet (knock on wood).

How are the conditions of the roads in NE? In Socal, they're pretty good.

Roads in NE are pretty good. I was traveling in Missouri and hit a good size chunk missing from the road.
