Default Hot air from passenger side

Hi all

Hope you are enjoying your Friday

So it seems my e60 LCI 530i is constantly blowing hot air from passenger side, regardless of what i do with the temps and idrive temps.
when AC is on, it's cold on drivers side, and cool/warm on passenger side.

ran the scan tool and stated error, heater valve. So i replaced the heater valve, no change and fault code still the same.

I then just replaced the hvac control panel (climate controls). No change in heat, however no more fault code coming up.

Anybody here have any ideas ?
cheers !

It could be a faulty vent or one side of the fan blower unit or regulator.

Sometimes the unbalanced cooling problem is nothing more than low gas in the system (not sure the BMW systems work the same way as "normal cars" but it would be worth checking, particularly if the "cool" you're getting out of the driver's side isn't really "cold".

And make sure you have the vents set to full cool in the iDrive system. Not really sure why BMW saw fit to add this "feature" but it trips up an awful lot of owners.

I had this happen to me, I thought it was the heater valve in the engine bay; I think it even had an error for it, Swapped it out, no change. It turns out, it was the actual control panel that controls the AC/Heat temp/fan speed/etc... I just purchased a used one, and it solved my problem.

I took apart my current unit, and saw this; I assume this is what caused one side of the vehicle to get AC Cold air and the other, hot blowing air.

Thanks for all the feedback

So just another few symptoms/conditions.

Even when AC is off, and I have the fans blowing, will all temps low including idrive, the passenger is blowing warm to hot air.

If I direct the passenger to mid and footwell, it blows abit cooler but still warmer than the drivers.

Is there anything else that's causing a heat to pass through? It's as if the passenger side climate control isnt registering to the heatervalve, causing it to remain open fully or partially.

I have changed both heater valve and climate control unit

I'm baffled

What brand valve did you purchase? Did you code the IHKA? What did you use to get the codes and what are they. At this time it seems like a blend door motor going bad with your explanation. But in theory your issue can be caused by low refrigerant, bad valve, bad IHKA, or bad blend motor. You changed your IHKA and the code went away but something is still not right.

I did not know what "hvac control panel (climate controls)." meant specifically. If OP is referring to IHKA, then that should rule out that, unless its non-OEM.

I think a vent might not be opening or blower is acting up on one side.

Sorry guys.

I meant, I changed the heater valve as well aswere climate control panel (where you adjust temps, fan speed, defrost etc). The panel that sits under the idrive.

You mentioned the blend flap ?
Mu theory is, even if that flap is stuck open, the air temps coming in shouldnt be hot at all as the heater valve would be closed...right ? Therefore no hot coolant should be circulating to the heater core ?

What brand valve did you purchase? Aftermarket, don't know the brand.

Did you code the IHKA? No. Is the IHKA the control panel where you adjust temps and fan speed ?

What did you use to get the codes and what are they. Used Bimmer link, and if i recall it was 9C6D or something like that, and it said left heater valve error.
