My brother is planning to change his car and so yesterday we went to Wanchai's Automall by Grand Hyatt for a look. I haven't been down there for more than 2 years and thing has changed. Not many car selection there now and many empty spots (dealers closed down). We passed by the dealer whom I bought my E60 and talked to the salesman a bit. He has only less than 10 cars available such as an Audi A4 S-Line Avant, E60 525i, Benz C class, 2008 VW Golf R32 and a few others. We checked out the R32 a bit and the salesman was very enthusastic. The price is about $350K with only 7,000 km. We asked him about the trade in but he sounds like they don't like it or will give a very low price. At the end we finished walking of the entire automall in less than 30 mins.

My observation :
1) Price is still high for most of the cars there
2) Not too much selection
3) Low ball trade in offer

Dealers are not willing to sell cars for less and bail out. Business will be very tough for them. For me I will be driving my car definitely for a few more years.
thanks for ur report, let's wait for a few more month and we might see better price.

When they got the car it was high price so they will not sell it at lower than they got it.
Just like your watches.
no 1 what the 2nd hand cars now unless it is a private sale, maybe you can sell the car 1st on 28car and car8
then get a private sale car.
I would not go throw the 2nd hand dealers now, not good prices.
BMWHK are giving alot on the trade-in right now try them and see what you will get for you car.
See if it is more than the 2nd hand dealers.
I ask a few weeks back on my e60 and the guy said 160k that a drop of 40% from 3 months ago.

think dealers already off-loaded some stocks but they will have to face the hard truth that things are going get worse after chinese new year, if you are in the market to buy a car, should wait.

mike also has a golf gti, I would talk to him first. top gear compared the r32 with a 130. r32 is actually faster but the 130 seems a more fun car to drive.
