dont worry too much la, unless you are in a v old flat, elec circuits in hk have a trip fuse, you might get a painful shock, but wont kill you.

Is a clampmeter more safe because there is no direct contact with the current.

My Ride: BMW E60 530i , Silver with leather Air Con iDrive 17" Breyton Rims with Dunlop Sp Sport tyres (M-Tech Bodykit and rims WANTED)
Alfa Romeo 147 TS1.6 , Black with Air Con 17" Multi Spoke alloys with Bridgestone RE040 tyres
Toyota MR-S 1.8 VVTI , Lagoon Blue with Red leather Air Con 15" standard alloys with Toyo tyres
Toyota Celica 1.8 VVTI, Lagoon Blue, Air Con, 16" Standard alloys with Kuhmo KU31, EBC Green Stuff

I got an electric fan which is rated 56W, so the working current should be about 0.25A at full load (max speed), right? Correct!
Power = current x voltage
56 = current x 220v
current = 0.255A
I don't know why you can measure the current? Since it need to connect in series with the motor or diver parts.
Does it mean that the motor bearing is almost died so that it draws more current then normal? Refill some lubricant may help but better throw away for any doubt. They are just few hundred dollars and not worth to repair anymore.
I found the Dyson copycat at taobao just less than HK$ 200.
Even can use few months still not cost too much.
