Yes, IF non floating, then it would be MUCH MUCH heavier. Having it floating means the centre hub part of the disc is made of lighter material...

It still weighs a hell of a lot! I could barely carry the box with all the discs in it!

cool, I know the old m3 floating discs look like that too but couldnt tell for sure

its all physics and friction, the harder the pads the more wear on the discs, think of the hard erasers and the soft staedler erasers on pencil lead, the paper wears out after rubbing with the hard ones and there is a lot of rubber shavings when you use the soft one.
if oem had no dust than they will get claims on worn discs, but pads are wear and tear....saying that conman's 545i discs sold to Ricky must have been using hard pads...

i think the enjoyment is thinking abt the temp and the special stopping qualities which make us buy
the aftermarket ones, like getting new wheels......
anyhow its nice to see Mark a newbie with 19inch babes rather than your staid 16....
