mark1 suspension was tuned by lotus, might be the best mr2
and reving to 8500rpm and with tvis (toyota variable induction system)
handling- not really, when it rained/snowed it meant "deathproof" driving,
i remember doing some serious bad ass drifting that would put those Silvias and GTRs to shame
when it was snowing and i was driving from Lincoln to Nottingham.
mark 2 turbo was also a death trap in the wrong hands, i think the final one was the best balanced, BUT
slowest

I had the sw20 non-turbo version back in Aust.
A bit under power parting with R32, FD's, Supra and all those commodores V8's in those days.

Peugeot 205 gti 1.9 (abt 690kgs? and no power steering) and 123bhp, on 15inch Michelin mxv
in its day it could blow away ; e30 325i, Renault 5GT turbo, MR2, RS Turbo, Ae86, Starion, celica, supra,Golf gti16v
Porsche 944 and other supercars, because it just went round bends like on rails and not into the trees!!! only the Escort RS Cosworth came close.(i owned some of the other ones to make a comparison)
but not on a straight road of course!!
Kc you will say the Lancia integrale, but the 205 T16 was the king of the forest!!

the integrale by comparison is a much heavier car at 1200kg. with good diff everywhere, the traction is just amazing. Also the brakes and steering makes you feel like you are driving a race car. in its standard form, it understeers on entry (lke most 4wds) and I regret never got the -ve camber mod done. it was my dream car and v fortunate to have owned one.
