The "hold down accelerator for 25s" trick for smoother shift
Tried in today on my 08 535i. definately does something. i believe my car had learned how i drove during the break in period. and felt like a grandmas car. after i did this my car felt tototally different.
before it would shift at low rpms unless i was flooring it. usually shift like at 1500 rpm. now it holds out the rpms a little longer shifts at around 3500 and seems to me that the gas pedal works differently now. before i would press the gas and the car would go very slow if i pressed it more it wouldnt change much unless i floored it. now i can see a difference depending on how much i press the accelerator. ( sounds kind of weird when i write it down but basically the car feels better and more responsive)

D feels like an improved version of DS and DS feels like I'm shifting it manually with smoother transitions. Smooth shifts all around. Try it out.

Then hold down the gas, past the downshift point to the floor for 25-30 seconds straight.
If you listen, at about 25s exactly you will hear some "noise" and that is the tranny "resetting" itself to factor specs

I did it yesterday. It is MUCH BETTER! Drives smoother, shifting is more logical imho. Why can't you configure I-Drive cron to run this process every two weeks?

I felt like 15 years youngers. Before I broke all the traffic laws, I got home in no time.
I will try the DS mode today.

I tried it again about an hour ago on my '06 550i and I just don't see any difference... although the car runs smooth and fast anyway...

. Oh well guess I have to live with the rough change every now and then.
