Absolutely not. I had a bit of wobble a while back but had wheels balanced and A-OK. I also had mine up to 120 recently and I swear the faster I went the more it held the road and more in control it felt. I had a strong sense of confidence.

UPDATE: BMW recall extends beyond China
Posted Jul 14th 2006 3:29PM by John Neff

Contrary to what we reported in an earlier post, BMW's most recent recall has not been confined to China, but includes 46,000 5-, 6-, and 7-Series models built between January 9th and April 18th of this year and sold throughout the world.

The problem apparently involves defective rubber bushings in the rear shocks that could loosen and lead to handling problems and loss of vehicle control. BMW blames its supplier for the issue that was caught before anyone was injured as a result, but the recall will cost the German automaker an estimated 16 million euro.

I have a 530XI and really didn't like the feel with the OEM tires (standard all season Contis) At about 120 they would seem to drift needing a lot of minor steering adjustments. Thought it could be the wind or improper inflation. I've had my new wheels and tires a few weeks and found that tire pressure does make a difference. Right now I'm running 33PSi all around contrary to BMW's more PSI in the rear charts and at 135 the car seems to handle really well. With 32 in the front and 36 in the rear it's like driving my A6 4.2 wondering if there's enough road on some corners. With the XI it would seem that because the weight distribution is close enough to 50/50 the tire pressure could be the difference. The Goodyear eagle F1 GS D3's 245/40 18 are not runflats and do make a huge difference in handling and steering feel. I'll continue to experiment with tire pressure but with these particular tires I think I'm pretty close. Right now my car runs circles around either of my previous two a6's!

I've noticed some of what people described here but it's subtler. I notice it more on high speed (60-85mph) turns of what you typically see on highway interchanges. It?s more pronounced when the road isn't smooth. I never felt this on my E39 540i/6 but I was attributing the poor handling to the RFT's on the E60. I do not notice any wandering in straight-line runs as described here. I also don't have AS but I think I have the bushing recall done (done at VPC).

I had this problem with my Lexus GS300. It was horrible and I couldn't drive the car down the highway without taking my eyes off the road and even then It required a substantial amount of concentration. Couldn't even mess with the Nav system.

I tried different tires (Goodyear Egale F-1's) and the problem was only slightly resolved. The only thing which made a significant difference was to have the toe in set to max allowed by the specs. This seemed to nearly solve the problem.

With my e60 this problem does not exist. At higher speed I alwasy hold the wheel with two hands which did seem to make a big diff on the Lexus. I'd have the toe in checked and an aligment done.

Hope this helps I know the problem is irritating.

This is so funny I bought my BRAND NEW 2007 525i two days ago and I have yet to take delievery of it cuz the car has the same problem and the dealer is replacing a chip for it.......keep in mind the car has 0 miles on it.

Looks like Germany is aware of this problem.

My dealer told me 1500 of the 525i are affected. Figures
you buy a brand new car and you cant take it home cuz its in service

Hey gang. What are you thinking about? Someone might criticize you for engaging in dangerous illegal activities. Boy, you certainly don't want to tell the truth about what you do. Gee, I hope no one complains. I'll stop now before my imaginative thought flow induces me say something truly offensive.

Driving well beyond the speed limit. The fractions have to do will unsafe and illegal activities in which I have engaged. But, did you really want an explanation of some fractions? Be happy to do so. I fixed an inconsistency in my sig when thinking about fractions. Thanks.

Imola seeing a bit red too. I'll bet the complainers drive significantly over the speed limit or do a bit of illegal and unsafe spirited cornering from time to time and are deeply in denial about these practices being "unsafe and illegal."
