I think you might have mis read the posts...

Shadowline trim comes with non m5 e60's with the sport package here in the US...however High Gloss Shadowline trim (which is what the OP was asking about) is only an option for M5's
Thats what I thought also, but I could be wrong

But it's only BMW USA that's making that option so limited. The factory will put high gloss shadowline on any 5. I've seen it on plenty over here (and I've got it on mine although I cheated and had it retrofitted).

Correct. Here is a picture of a friend's 03 540i M Sport Wagon with the high gloss shadowline (semi) clearly visible:

I didn't really notice that the e60 M Sports didn't get that until I saw it on his car and saw how much better it looked. That said, while I would love to replace the matte with glossy at some point, I imagine that while it's easy to get the trim around the doors the trim that's actually on the door jam would be difficult to find. I believe that would need to be glossy as well to pull it together.

Agreed -- the high gloss looks much better, in my opinion. I was at a dealer last week, and noticed that even the 3-series coupes have high-gloss shadowline. It really baffles me why BMW NA refuses to allow this as an option on the non-M5 E60s.

Because y'all let them get away with it.

Yup, that is right. I have it on my car as an individual option and it is not a M5. Ask for individual options at your dealder. The list is long and there are some sweet stuff.

Your dealer can stand on his head and I bet BMWNA will not relent. I tried to get chromeline, even using connections I had high up at BMW, and it was a no-go for this. They would allow special paint , but not this. It is bizarre, finally just had my dealer install it as part of the deal. Much less brain damage

About to place an order on a 550i in the SF Bay Area. Wondering if it's possible to order high-gloss shadowline on my car. Thanks in advance.

You can get them painted. I got my matte black trim painted to high gloss trim from Sonic MS in Mountain View.
