About to place an order on a 550i in the SF Bay Area. Wondering if it's possible to order high-gloss shadowline on my car. Thanks in advance.

Yep, absolutely, contact Gary @ BMW of Newport and he will give 25% discount to forum members. Others will chime in with his actual email address. It is significantly more expensive than the matte trim but it isn't that bad. I am thinking of going the same route. I prefer the gloss black (like M5) to the matte black.

***Both will give yoou 25% off + no sales tax.
Frank is in MN, closer...so shipping might be a bit less.
Also, I would think Gloss trim would be a priority 1 option...it's not listed on the ordering sheet for 2010 550's.

You're talking $800 vs $250 usually. The mark-up is just stupid-high for the gloss version. Also, you have to keep in mind that you don't want to get gloss shadowline if the door frames themselves are matte black. It won't look right.

I actually stripped the egg shell finish to a true Matte No Reflection, i applied a strong chemical i purchased at a electronic store and i love the mysterious finish i have not done a DIY because i want to test the finish with water spots and the environment

Thanks, guys. If I'm not mistaken, I think the E39 540i had high-gloss shadowline, so I was hoping to be able to include it on my car.
I didn't really notice that the e60 M Sports didn't get that until I saw it on his car and saw how much better it looked. That said, while I would love to replace the matte with glossy at some point, I imagine that while it's easy to get the trim around the doors the trim that's actually on the door jam would be difficult to find. I believe that would need to be glossy as well to pull it together.

If you're not "allowed" to order shadowline in the states, then that's just BMW USA that's enforcing that. In Europe, every single item on the car is individually orderable, including shadowline trim. You don't have to get an M5, or any kind of package.
So I reckon if you say to your dealer that you'll only buy it if you can order shadowline trim, I'm pretty sure that they'll make it happen.
I stood my ground on a Mercedes once and made them break the rules. I wanted to buy Elegance but with the AvantGarde grill and wheels (which weren't more expensive, they were just only available as part of the avantgarde package). They made it happen.
Faced with losing an order, a dealer will make stuff happen for you.
Every 5er model can have shadowline "from the factory". It's only BMW USA that prevents it. Presumably to make their life easier.

I think you might have mis read the posts...
Shadowline trim comes with non m5 e60's with the sport package here in the US...however High Gloss Shadowline trim (which is what the OP was asking about) is only an option for M5's
