I spoke to BMW UK today. They said that on 14th February a bulletin was sent to all dealers telling them that ALL cars built in March 2007 would NOT have High Gloss because of a problem in the factory.
We hold our breath for the first High Gloss Shadowline LCI MSport.

Another thread

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=142850

indicates that it appears to be a BMW "trademark" to sometimes introduce/discontinue high gloss shadowline on other models when there's a facelift.

Maybe we shouldn't hold our breath.

I'm with ABC on this one, push hard for something in return. A GBP200 list price item is going to cost them a lot less, so it shouldn't be a major issue for them to provide some kind of product/service as compensation.

Sorry to hear that some of you will miss out on the High Gloss Shadow Line, but at least you won't be confronted with a window frame full of finger prints! I had the HGSL on my 3er M-Sport and most of the time the window frames looked more like something out of a CSI-Miami crime scene investigation!

Good luck with it all...

Oh I forgot to add - I've now been told that HGSL can be fitted by dealers.

Well if they get arsey, my statement about Shadow Line being material to my choice of colour and therefore a condition of the order stands. I will reject the car based on that unless they either offer to retrofit it or come up with a bloody good alternative.

I've already screwed them to the wall on price (?44K list for ?36K on the road) so I don't want that to come off the table but equally time is not of the essence to me so a delay until June and the new Sports box would suit me to the ground.

Now you make ME nervous... High-gloss is supposed to be standard with the M-sport pkg in Sweden, but I think I need to do the same research as you guys have made. I certainly don't want to have my car without it!

...a delay until June...
Let me think.

a) A single statement from a forum member (forgive me for questioning but it's not a big sample) - so far uncomfirmed - that high gloss shadowline is unavailable till April.

b) A basic inability of the UK configurator to offer the MSport/High Gloss Shadowline combination.

I wonder whether your delay may be even longer.

Like the F10.

The configurator for Sweden was up and running for the LCI some weeks ago, and there it's High Gloss Shadowline included. And when I ordered my car it stated High Gloss as part of the package, so if you have a contract wherein it states the High Gloss is included and a car turns up without it means either a) it's not my car or b) the dealer can change to High gloss themselves.

A forum member at a Swedish BMW site did it himself and shows it with pictures. Wasn't difficult, only painstakingly slow as he didn't want to scratch the paint...

No problem for the SE in UK.

I see you're waiting for a SAT box so if our contributor's rumour is correct then since you're waiting for June production, you shouldn't have any difficulties anyway.
