there are two types of high beam the (temprary) quick flash, and the high beam that remains on after you let go of the lever...
the one where you just pull stalk is the quick flash it doesnt use xenons and only normal lights because you need a fast response and xenons are slow..
the one where you push the stalk and the high beam remains on... this is using both xenons and normal light as both go to full power.. a small flap in the xenon light opens up and the xenons cover more area, and the inner lights just help... but this is a little bit slower than the first, but once the xenon opens up they really cover a lot of area...
