I hope it works for you.

Did you have the 'high battery drain' warning when the car conked ?

Interesting that they are going to upgrade your software. When they are telling me there is no battery related software problems on the 530d in the UK.

Perhaps I need to wait until my car dies like yours which knowing my luck will happen on the way to centerparcs next week

When my car died , it came up with a big red cog in the middle of the dashboard , when the key was in position 2. When i put it onto position 1 a short time later to bring on the radio while i waited for the tech , the yellow battery symbol came on screen and the car did completely nothing from then on.

The weird thing was , the car binged like you had left your lights on , but the icon on the dash screen was the big red cog only when the rear passenger side door was opened

who knows.. ill let you know the outcome. In the meantime im not too bothered , they gave me a 525d sport to run about in the meantime.

I get my car back tomorrow , its being dropped off at my workplace.

They said they updated all the ecu's . Does this mean the idrive has been updated too , i want mp3 support and birds eye view on my nav pro.

I've had the car fail to start twice.
Once I'd been on hols for 3 weeks. Returned from the airport , car started fine and I drove for 45 miles. The next day it was completely flat , Weird eh?
One other time I washed the car on my drive and listened to the radio/CD for 1 hour. When I came to start it it was completely flat - along with associated I Drive warnings. Unacceptable.

I have a 530d which has had the same battery problem as your car for the last 3 months the dealer has tried everything from changing the battery, updating the CIP, changing a control module and god know what else. They have had it in 5 times trying to correct the fault without success.

UNTIL NOW!!!!!!

Having left the car with them for the last two weeks whilst i have been away on holiday, they have finally managed to track the problem down and fix it once and for all.

They initially thought it was a fault with the main contol unit waking up and draining the battery, they replaced this but the problem reappeared, they then noticed a problem with the CCC unit when they left it on test overnight the audio functions were waking for some unknown reason causing the drain. So with this replaced the problem has FINALLY gone away.

HOWEVER!!!!!!!!

My sat nav has now packed up and the audio singal for the parking sensors has disappeared and the AC is blowing out luke warm air on all setting, so its going in on Thursday for yet another new CCC.

NOT A HAPPY CAMPER AT THE MOMENT!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all your input guys.

BMW's response to my PUMA was to book my car back in for a day of diagnostic tests. To see what (if anything) is waking up.

This isn't going to happen till the 8th May 06.

Personally, I still think this is a software issue, but time will tell.

They better not break my car
