My sales rep suggested that I get an extra valet key and tape it somewhere accessible but hidden outside the car. The logic is that getting into the car if keys are lost is expensive and possibly damaging.

Any thoughts on this? I'm two weeks into driving my "new" 2004 530. Lots of technology to learn, but other than a few spurious computer alarms (flat tire and passenger restraints), it's pretty neat.

Thanks in advance

Just go home and get it if you lock yourself out. If you're traveling far take two sets. I wouldnt trust hiding a key outside my car.

I've hollowed out my shark antenna and applied a thin weather seal around the base. It snaps down to the roof nicely and won't come off with driving.

My valet key fits nicely inside this contraption as well as a few $100 bills just for emergency purposes.

Why can't I ever find good restaurants on iDrive anymore? I want to utilize the valet.
