Hi Guys,

Got my HB4 HID Fog light conversion kit today. Ready for install.
Need advice on 2 approaches to install these.

Is it easier to install via:

Top - take out both headlight assemblies and access fog lights from top. When I installed LCI front headlights before, I noticed you can access the fog lights by taking off the front headlight assembly and accessing foggys from top.

Bottom - Don't know how to do. Pls let me know if this is an easier approach.

Thanks guys

Top is easier for me, but that's because I can take off both headlights in 5 minutes.

And HB4 bulbs? That's the wrong size...

No....don't tell me I got ordered the wrong type bulb...
2004 E60 530i foggies are not HB4's? What type are they? They've got a plastic "L-shaped" plug connected to the bulb itself...are these not HB4's?

they are 9006's like whats pictured.

do you have headight washers?
the water tank for that is directly inback of the drivers side fog..
you may need to take the splash guard off in the fender, turn the wheel to the right and mount the ballast, and gently* push the water tank out of the way while you blindly work the bulb into the fog lamp.

maybe you can take the fog lamp and surrounding mesh out somehow? i did this on my e39 while installing hid fogs.. it made life so easy.. lol
i have to do this soon to, but i also just slapped in some 4300k bulbs untill my hids arrive. so its the same procedure, just a ballast in between.

Don't have washers and there's no water tank behind the foggies...
9006 = HB4's...no?

If you have ramps or can put the car on a lift then getting to the foglamps from the bottom is the way to go.

I'm In the process of installing mine and restoring my lenses. I removed the bottom access panel and a couple of torx, then completey took the lens housing out. After I restore the lens I will find a safe place to mount the ballast then reinstall everything. Been real easy so far.

The reservoir on the drivers side doesn't get in your way??

Use the wheel well, the top takes forever. Through the wheel well I can do one side in 2 minutes and my car had the cold weather package.

I did the wheel well method, however if I had to do it again I would remove the headlights.
