My 530D hesitates . Travelling along at a constant speed with the accelerator pedal static, I experience a small hesitation, jerk, hiccup (whatever you want to call it !) for about one second. This might happen once a day, or a couple of times in the space of a week

Any ideas or similar experiences on this one ? Should I worry ?!

Thanks.

Doesn't sound right... I would ask your local dealer? But these sorts of faults are always hard to diagnose!

Hi
I get the same problem, notice it more when I use the cruise control. I will ask my dealer next week when it goes in for the remote control very weak signal to lock & unlock the car.

I drive the smaller engine 520d. with 5000 miles on the clock still getting used to it

In this months ( October 06 ) BMW Car magazine page 28 in the email section,a reader had a 520d the hesitation appeared between 1500 and 2000rpm, first when they were in third gear and then progressed to all gears as the mileage on the car increased. The dealer scanned the car on numerous occasions and it came up with the same result everytime. After consultation with the supplying dealer and BMW, the car was taken in for two days. The technicians in consultation with BMW re-programmed the ECU several times until the hesitation disappeared. The car is now running smoothly

I hope this helps?

Sounds like the same as my issue. I don't notice it so much in 'D', but that's not how I normally drive the car.
If it can be cured by reprogramming the ECU, is this the same ECU reprogramming which someone like DMS would do?
I want to get it remapped soon anyway, but not sure if BMW have to 'fix' something first, before the remap is done.

It's a known issue. My 520d did this from new. ECU re programed at 500 miles and it made it a bit better. Went in for its 18k service about a month ago and I mentioned the slight hesitation on light throttle, between 1500 and 2000 rpm. They re-programed the EGR valve as per BMW service bulletin, car now drives like a BMW should, a lot quicker/smoother and fuel consumption is much better. I put up with mine for 10 months, wish I had complained sooner.

Same problem with my 535 Dbut for longer time: i suspect that it is when the car is burning its particles.
