Unhappy Hemorrhagingoil and money!

I'm in shock.

Brought my 2004 545i (126k miles) to the dealer because of a massive oil leak. Head gaskets, timing covers, alternator gasket etc They basically said "everything was leaking". While they are at it they are replacing the coolant reservoir due to a broken level indicator, belts & hoses. I asked them to look at the water pump and alternator, but they're fine.

Final estimate, $4937.00 Holy $h1t!

Has anyone paid such a bill for oil leak repairs?

Sorry to hear that Bro,but welcome to the Stealer. I have never have a "single problem" estimated by the Stealer under $1k. I hope you didn't blindly let them do all those work before knowing the exact dollars. I did most of the gasket by myself, and nothing to it. whatever I can't do, I let the the shop with knowledge of BMW's do the work. They are still at least 3 times cheaper than Stealer. GL with the repair.

Take it to a good Independant BMW shop. It will be 1/2 that amount give or take.

Its super common, except the head gasket part, never seen a N62 leak oil from there, now valve covers, upper timing covers, alternator bracket gasket, and oil pressure sender? We do that as a package all the time. We charge roughly 1350 labor plus parts. So maybe 1500-1600 to correct the oil leaks. At $85 an hour. Find a good indi!

Not trying to be mean but you realize it's a dealership, right? Prices are always want more at the dealer for everything. Like what others have said find a good Indy and it will be at least half as much. Case in point at my last vehicle check the dealer wanted $1300 for rear tires and America's tire did it for $500.
