Default Help!! What is this engine noise?

Hi,
This is my 2008 550i with 46,733 miles. I just bought the car back in October and it had 43,193 miles. It has a sport automatic transmission. My SA checked the service records and it was maintained according to BMW's maintenance schedule (15K oil changes etc.).

My only mods are a Dinan Stage 1 software upgrade done at the dealer. I plan on changing the oil once it it's 7,500 and will do that from now on. I also changed the antifreeze, powersteering fluid and the differential fluid.

There is a strange sound coming from the engine. I'm wondering if it's just normal or am I just paranoid? I checked the oil level and it's ok.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Henry

not sure on video I can't here exactly the noise but I think I had similar noise when I purchased my vehicle from dealer and then after a month at least the water pump went off. This noise was similar when I had water pump gone, so I would think it's a water pump that does that noise.

It is definitely not the water pump. It seems to me that the noise gets louder near the valves. My opinion is that the valves might need to be adjusted or the hydraulic valve lifters are out of spec and have been since the car was new. The car can still be driven you will just have to deal with the noise.
