My Ride: Gone Waiting

HI Guys,

I know i have been asking too many question about rims.

Let me tell the full story about the Rims i have change.

I had from factory the 124 with mixed tyres (front) 245-40-18 (Rear) 275-35-18 which was very fine for me.

Now i have change the rims to the M6 (style 167) (NON RUN FLAT) Replica , and keep the same tyres that is the same run flat tyres that were on my 124.

Then i had vibration on steering and rear vibration , i though that this is due to the Run flat tyres on NON run flat Rims., i changed all the four tyres to non run flat tyres of course eveytime all these wheel were fully balanced. Still vibration , they told me to see the hub and add the hub centric rings.

I did that also , but the same thing.

NOW I WANTED TO RETURN ON SYTLE 124 (RUN FLAT RIMS ) AND PUT NON RUN FLAT TYRES ON IT

HELP Vibration at the back-front.jpg

I AM REALLY TIED WITH THIS

Any one suggest what should i do?

Thanks

I'm not sure what kind of help you need...Since you've drawn your own conclusions - just go back to the original wheels and enjoy your car again.

Obviously something isn't right with your custom setup. One thing to clear up is that runflat tires on our cars are not mounted to runflat rims. In your case, the rims are standard and should be able to work with or without runflat tires.

I'm not one to do any customizing of wheels/tires (other than my snow setup) so I'm not too familiar with the whole hubcentric ring issue -- although it seems to solve many vibration problems for other people here.

I don't know what else to tell you other than to be sure that the balancing is done using a skilled technician with high-tech equipment.

See the following post about the concept of "road force balancing" http://forums.e60.net/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=282423

Maybe you need to find a shop that has that type of equipment?

Sorry for all of your troubles. As a daily follower of this forum it is quite apparent that more and more problems are croping-up with non-OEM parts or non-OEM set-ups. I frankly don't trust replica fitments whether they are spoilers or rims. The increase rate of problems on the performance/fitments side is not worth the cost savings IMO. THe exception would be if 10 people on this forum claimed they had no problems with a particular vendor and performance of the mod. In this case, I would try to get your money back for the 167 replicas and go for the OEM 167 rims with 19" non-RF. Alternatively, the cheapest route ,as you indicate, appears to go back to your 18" in 124 and non-RFs. Good luck.

It would be great to see you try polymer (plastic) hubcentric rings. I read somewhere that they give more of an "O ring" seal. I have aluminum rings, and still have a tad bit of the vibration. If you try the polymer rings, please report back.
