Hello everyone,

I hear fan noise while driving and idling recently. At first, I thought it was the AC fan sound. But after turned off the AC and also turned off the fan, I still hear the fan noise. After searching, I found the fan noise is coming from the square spare below the glove compartment. When I used my hand to cover the square spare, I cannot hear the fan noise.

Therefore, I mentioned it to the dealership when my car was in for service on 1/26. The following is the statement I got from the shop foreman: "I have looked at the cover under the passenger side foot well of the vehicle and the spaces that are open are normal , they are recessed clips that hold the cover up , and this is normal to have the open space there are no covers available for this."

Can anyone please help to check your e60 when you get the chance the let me know? If that's normal, I need to use dock tape to cover the space so I will not hear the fan noise while driving.

Thank you.

That looks like it may be the hole for a footwell light?

It is not the hole for the footwall light(interior light).

If you can help to check your 2007 535xi will be appreciated.

Thank you.

I will tape it up if the dealer refuses to give me the cover(assuming if there should be one). But I would like to find out the truth.

Same as when the dealer told me my new battery has low voltage is because the hardwired V1(to the rear view mirror) is high draining the battery power which I totally not agreed....

The open square space is located on the plastic cover below the glove box. But thank you for the picture.

no cover...

Not suppose to have one.

Your dealer is right.

Don't sweat it, no need to make yourself look dumb to the dealer. Worry about things that actually matter.

Hi Allen,

Thank you for the picture. What model is yours? Another forum member also said his 2004 530i does not has any hole on the bottom cover. If it is not suppose to have one, then how to explain the square hole I have? I assume the 545i has different parts. I just want to be sure or I have to tape the square hole up so I will not hear the fan noise which bothers me.
