A few days ago, my idrive wouldnt work and I had a blank screen. I would drive and it would turn on eventually on its own. This morning, it wouldn't turn on at all and tonight when I was leaving work, my car wouldnt start. I did replace the battery 6 months ago with a new battery. Tonight, the car did start after a jump start but the idrive never came back on afterwards.

I am not sure if its my Micro Power Module Control Unit, my CCC unit or the walmart battery (which had the most cold cranking amps I could find!)

Any help would greatly be appreciated, and I am thinking about taking it to the stealership in the morning, I would prefer not to though. I just dont know if an indy shop would be able to fix this.

I think its the battery. cheap batteries dont last too long especially with cars like ours.

I hope you are correct, although I did go with the walmart battery based on searching on here. Im hoping somebody with a similar issue chimes in.

I'd say it's probably not the battery--there's nothing wrong with Walmart batteries. They all come from the same factory, only the labels are different.

Instead, it might have been the procedure used. Maybe a spark or something went wrong with the install frying some component.

You definitely need to remove the negative terminal first and wrap it with a towel or something to prevent any sparking.

I think I will even put a charger on the terminals under the hood to make sure there is power applied throughout the procedure.

test the battery

Put a multi-meter on it, it should read at least 12 volts. Check with engine running you should get between 13 or 14 volts.

Walmart batteries are not cheap, they're Johnson Controls. Probably same maker of BMW battery. EverStart Maxx 94R is what I've been running on for about 11 years in all my cars. No problems whatsoever.

Something is probably draining your electrical system. Diagnose it. Start with the battery, take it out and replace it with a new one. It's under warranty (hope you have receipt) and inspect all cables. MAKE sure that your battery is tight. Find a shim, the wal-mart battery does not fit in the boot like the OEM. It's more powerful indeed but it's also a tad bit smaller. If it's moving around chances are there's going to be an issue. Leaving your car with no battery for 12 hours or so then hook new battery in. Reset your Active Steering if you have it and don't worry about any error messages you get initially or date/time issues, they'll go away. Make sure it's secured. If you have sound and so forth but no screen, remove the monitor and start car. Turn off car and plug monitor back in. You should be fine unless there's a bigger issue.

you are aware there are several different holes at the bottom of the battery compartment to adjust the battery hold down clamp, correct? I moved mine to the outermost hole when I put in a group 95R 110Ah battery.
