My wife dropped a lip stick lid in the arm rest and she closed it and now it does not open when I pull on the handle to open the arm rest.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

My guess is there's pressure working against the latch mechanism. So I'd apply extra pressure in reverse and try opening it again. So assuming the obstruction is forcing the armrest outward, I'd put pressure against the unit inward and then try the latch. My office door sometimes does this thing where I have to lean on it in the opposite direction of how it would open, for the key to unlock the door.
